Instead, you use a number of items you find in presents throughout the world to better avoid them, such as wings, rocket boots, etc. You roam around exploring 24 randomized levels of land that are floating in space (basically a tripped-out version of Earth), avoiding all sorts of goofy humans and monsters. It is essentially a laid-back, pacifist rouge-like, which sounds contradictory, but that is where its genius lies. It really is a shame that it isn't getting more positive word-of-mouth, and so I wanted to create this post to spread the word.įor those unacquainted, Toejam and Earl is about two aliens who crash-land on earth, and the objective is to find all the pieces of your spaceship so that you can escape. I played for a few hours last night co-op with my wife, and a couple hours solo this morning before work, and I had a blast the entire time. I finally caved last night and bought it, and I am so glad that I did. However, I was a little hesitant to purchase because it hasn't been getting a lot of great buzz/reviews and was worried that the performance would be bad on the Switch. I was a huge fan of Toejam and Earl on the Sega Genesis back when I was a kid, and so I was very excited to learn about the new sequel.
